Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Location: Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman
Capacity: 715,000 US gallons per day (2,700 m3 per day)
Commissioned: 2002

This facility was purchased by Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. in 2002 and is located on the island of Grand Cayman, near the Hyatt Britannia Resort. At the time of purchase, the facility had a production capacity of 410,000 US gallons per day. In 2005, the Company undertook a major rebuilding and expansion of the facility, which included replacing the plants hollow fiber membranes with the more common spiral wound membranes. The current capacity of the facility is 715,000 US gallons per day.

In addition to the desalination equipment, this site also includes 800,000 US gallons of potable water storage, disinfection equipment and distribution equipment. The drinking water produced by these facilities is distributed via he Company’s pipelines to homes, businesses, hotels and tourist accommodations in the area. Water from this facility is also used to irrigate the golf course located at the Hyatt Britannia Resort.
