GRAND CAYMAN, located 480 miles south of Miami, Florida,Â is one of the largest financial centers in the world with overÂ $1.8 trillion on deposit in more than 250 banks. A BritishÂ Overseas Territory, the Cayman Islands are comprised ofÂ three islands: Grand Cayman, the countryâ€™s capital andÂ commercial center with approximately 56,000 residents, andÂ the more sparsely populated â€œSister Islandsâ€ of Cayman BracÂ and Little Cayman, located 80 miles to the northeast.
The other â€œeconomic engineâ€ of the islands is tourismÂ which in 2013 attracted approximately 1.7 million visitors toÂ Caymanâ€™s beautiful beaches, botanical gardens and wildlife,Â which include the blue iguana, an endangered species ofÂ lizard endemic to Grand Cayman. Consolidated Water â€™sÂ corporate offices are located on the famous Seven MileÂ Beach, where the Companyâ€™s subsidiary, Cayman Water,Â has been providing drinking water since 1973 and operatesÂ one of the two water utilities on Grand Cayman Island.Â Consolidated Water â€™s other Cayman subsidiary, OceanÂ Conversion Cayman, provides drinking water to the otherÂ utility on Grand Cayman, the Water Authority-Cayman.
